Manaiakalani Toolkit Hapara Workshop:

Last week on Monday 29th August I attended an online toolkit course about Hapara. During the workshop we were introduced the basics of Hapara and how to navigate around the system. I found this a really interesting workshop. Although targeted at senior classrooms, I did see areas that I would like to try and use more, in order to see the things that have been placed into the students Google Drive. By using this part of the website I would be able to keep track of which students have completed their work and if they have uploaded it correctly so that they can blog it onto their students blogs.

Pause Breath Smile Workshop:

On Friday 10 December I attended the Pause Breath Smile professional development workshop online. The workshop focused on how to teach mindfulness to students inside the classroom. I really enjoyed this course and found it very beneficial. I learnt a lot about how to introduce new topics. I especially enjoyed learning about different activities and how I could introduce them into the classroom. I am looking forward to using some of these ideas this year.

Developing Phonological Awareness Workshop:

On the 3 September I attended the Developing Phonological Awareness professional development course online through Zoom. The course was taken by Yolanda Soryl and it was about how to teach phonics inside the classroom. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and I learnt a lot I especially enjoyed learning different ideas on ways to incorporate phonics inside the classroom as well as good suggestions of picture books we could use and activities to try. I am looking forward to trying some of the activities inside my classroom this year as I think it will be a great way to engage the students especially as the activities are so interactive and hands-on.
